29 May 07 Spring Flings

It’s been a great spring for the Bradfields.

Marley, Karyn and Nicole have settled into a fun routine that includes visiting the playground every day after school. Marley’s a super swinger and loves the sprinkler feature on hot days. Nicole is close to having enough trunk strength to sit in the swing. Her big sister can’t wait to show her  how it’s done.

In May, we all visited beautiful California for a week. Dave was there on business, so the three girls decided to tag along. We had a great time with a lot of firsts for Marley and Nicole, including carousel rides, horse and carriage rides and bowling. During our two days in Sacramento, Marley spent a lot of time in the hotel pool, even swimming on her own for a few feet (with water wings). There were numerous other highlights for us all, including an in-room massage for Karyn on Mother’s Day. The timing of our trip couldn’t have been better, as Dave’s parents (Nana and Bobo) were in San Francisco for a wedding. The two days we spent with them were extra special!

We just celebrated Memorial Day weekend – it’s really great to have a long weekend to spend together. Yesterday, we visited the Dumbo area of Brooklyn with Asher, a school friend of Marley’s, and his parents, who also all just moved here last year. We had a great lunch, played in a fun, ship-themed playground and enjoyed gorgeous views of Manhattan. There are so many different pockets to New York, it’s fun to discover new ones. The summer is sure to be one big adventure.

02 May 07 It’s time to “Ask Marley”

There used to be a TV show that Art Linkletter, and eventually Bill Cosby, hosted called Kids Say the Darndest Things. It was hilarious. For some time, we’ve thought it would be fun to record Marley’s answers to questions that you’d send us. Now that she’s saying some pretty zany things, we figure it’s time to start.

Here’s how we’re going to work things.

  1. Think of a question. Something fun. Or something serious. Maybe something about New York. Whatever you want to know from Marley.
  2. Send us your questions. We have set up askmarley(at)thebradfields.ca for you to reach us.
  3. Be creative. If you send us video, we’ll get Marley to post her response in video. If you record your question and send us an audio file, we’ll post an audio reply.
  4. We hope to turn this into a podcast, a digital radio-style program. Since Marley can’t type yet, most responses will be posted in audio format.

We look forward to hearing from you. This should be fun. Give us a couple of weeks to get the first segment done.
