01 Jun 06 Kicking off the Bradfield family blog

Welcome to the Bradfield family blog. We have set up this site for friends and family to stay connected with us as we make the move to New York City later this summer. Yes, New York City! I have taken a job with Fleishman-Hillard (FH) to build an interactive consulting group. For those of you that don’t know, FH is one of the largest communication agencies in the world. It is also where I started my career.

Finding a place to live in New York City

Tomorrow reality starts to set in as Karyn and I head to New York to try and find a place to live. Should be exciting, nerve-wracking and tiring. We hope to cover a lot of ground. Can we afford to live in Manhattan? Will we be relegated to the suburbs? Or maybe something in between like Brooklyn or Queens?

Hopefully we don’t sound too uneducated, although we really are. We have no idea where to begin. It’s one thing trying to find a new place in a city you’re familiar with, or in your own country, but we have no idea what to expect. We picked up a good book, have been reading many Web sites and found a broker we hope to work with in finding an apartment.

We’ll keep you posted.

About the Bradfield’s blog

So what’s this blog all about? Well, it’s a place to get updates, preview recent photos and possibly even listen to our accounts of our new life in New York through upcoming audio podcasts.

I’m going to be pretty busy with work, and Karyn will have her hands full with the new baby, so together we hope to keep this site current. We’ll tell you about the kids and our experiences. Every weekend we hope to get out and explore something new.

If you’ve been to New York and have something you loved, let us know. Leave us a comment. We’ll let you know if we make it there.
